English National 12 Stage Road Relay Champs - 17 Apr 2010

I ran the ultra competitive opening leg which is always the quickest of all relay legs. As I was running the fastest of our team I was awarded the honour/burden but at least I get a straight up race against the other starters. Needless to say I stuck well away from the front row at the start line as the quickest runners in the country were there and Dave Roper too!

OK so I'm looking a bit too cruisey in the photo but my time was 31 seconds faster than 2 years ago when I was winning duathlons so the signs are good for my run form. (I was worried my step up in bike training might kill my run).
Next weekend's event for me is the European Powerman Champs in Holland. My first duathlon in 17 months, my powerman debut and the first of 4 massive events I'm doing this year. I'm running and biking better than ever so I'm pretty optimistic. I've had a look at the start list and as I wouldn't know Martine Licker from Christian Koch from Istok Fister the names mean nothing to me but this will be very competitive. Coming from the UK is Leemans vanPiercy, Mattias Moorhoff, Ter-Heide deBoer and Emmetje Dewsenhoven so I'll know a few faces.
