Looking for Garfunkel...

I've always said the toughest race in the world is a lapped race that repeatedly goes by your house. This morning I got back into road racing on the bike and did a RR that went up the very steep Thieves Lane hill at the end of my road 9 times!!

Paul Simon Homes Road Race - 4th April 2010

What a great race! This was my first ever Cat 2 race and I more than held my own. I would never aim for the sprint finish so I was really looking for a long high tempo ride with my goal to push on in a few moves and get 121km racing miles in my legs.

I did a lot of work, chased down a lot of breaks and pushed off the front many times in pretty gutsy attempts to get away. I had planned to break away on the second last hill which is when the winning move went clear but I got boxed in by some dick who although pretty strong repeatedly seemed to back off at the critcal moments. I did make a late dash from the bunch for 3rd place with 2k to go and I opened up an impressive gap on the peloton but I was over hauled just before the finish line as the sprint was launched.

For the moment I am sat on the couch enjoying Cancellara's demolition of the Tour of Flanders.
