10 April 2010

Great weather for kite flying...

There is an old Irish poem that says 'May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back'. Now I'm guessing the chap who wrote this lovely sentiment has never done a TT. For whatever the wind giveth it will always take more...

Lea Valley 25m TT E2/25 - 10th April 2010

There's never really much to say about TT's as they are pretty eventless so I'm going to experiment with a bulletpoint race report..

Too quick out of the blocks for the Cameralady!!!!!!!!!!!

0 mins- Head down and pushing hard.
6 mins- Whole body in pain
8 mins- Vomiting. (not just any vomit, this is M&S nutty cereal vomit)
20 mins- Wind assisted 10m TT PB -20.28. Will hurt from turnaround.
26 mins- Nearly blown off bike at turnaround.
36 mins- See chunky lady rider ahead getting into a van.
46 mins- Pushing through the blinding pain.
54 mins- (plus VAT) Finish.

I swear those old boys who do the timing at TT always add a few seconds onto my time. I stopped my watch on 55.00 and that was 10m past the finish line. But our survey says 55.03. The fastest man of the days was Mr. Peter Balls with 50.27. Balls that Balls is quick.
