Wow what a mission that was... Race one was the race to get up so Silverstone leaving work at 5pm to be racing for 7pm!! Some of my over taking menouvres would put the fear of gGod up Ayrton Senna and my sprint refueling would have got a pretty good pit lane split too. Seriously though I imagine my traffic offences count could have been in triple figures. I got there on time albeit with not enough time to warm up or set up the bike properly but I made the start, just.
Silverstone Duathlon - Aug 12 2010
Well I did win but it wasnt that convincing really. Actually there was a bunch of decent lads there all in contention and I only really won it with a couple of decent laps around the F1 circuit which got me a gap on the bike. It was really wet and I didnt much like all the cornering on such a wet surface. the lads pushed me hard on the runs and 10.09 and 10.44 for two 2 mile runs is pretty respectable and fastest splits on the night.
Nice to do another duathlon in the UK though and good to get the first Du win of the year under the belt. I'd recommend this race too as there's a pretty competitive bunch at the sharp end and I think it'd be lightening quick in the dry. I reckon I could go at least 2.30 quicker on the bike if I could see where I was going! A million things went wrong between the office and the finish line but I was determined to get there and learned a lot of lessons for the future about pre-race prep and NGI.
