20 March 2011

Magpies, pheasants and automobiles.

Within 5 miles of leaving the house this morning I had seen four pairs of magpies. A very good omen but then further up the A1 I saw just a single magpie and shortly after that I hit a big pheasant at over 80mph. Lady Karma now owed me nothing.

Dambuster Duathlon - Mar 19th 2011

There's not much to say about my performance. I've struggled with a chesty cough the last 5 weeks plus a lot of knee pain so the super form I had before that is long gone. 5th place today is a fair reflection on where I am right now. I can see from how I raced exactly what specific training I need to do so that was the point in racing and not the result. I'll keep my strengths and work on the weaknesses.

New faces and new races in the UK Duathlon meant Hugh MacKenzie and Julian Lings were in a league of their own today. I'll need to find some serious form to stay with these lads. I will say that the Dambuster Duathlon is the best bike course in the UK. One big 42k lap, fast corners, good surface, rolling hills, perfect for strong bikers.
